You have successfully graduated from your Bachelor's programme and are looking for a Masters programme now? Study in Europe's centre, journey into the unspoiled countryside and explore many historical sites. The country's education is not only excellent, but also very affordable. You will then have to check the specific requirements of your choice faculty because each faculty typically establishes its own criteria for admission to students. In some cases, further preparatory courses, including a language course, may be required for you.

Three types of institutions are available for higher education in Slovakia:

* Public - This group includes most of the higher education schools. The government finances them.

* State – This includes military, law enforcement and medical institutions. The corresponding ministries finance them.

* Private – That is set up and funded by Non-Government institutions, but accredited by the Ministry of Education.

Master's programmes typically need to be completed for 1 to 3 years. Normally you need to write a master's thesis and pass a state examination to receive the degree. The country's official language is Slovak, but don't worry if you haven't yet started. A number of institutes offer foreign language Master courses in English, German, French or Hungarian.

Most higher education institutions provide dormitory accommodation. There is roughly 70 Euros a month in accommodation. Rooms are often shared with one or two other students in dormitories. You will be prepared to pay around €300 monthly for a single room apartment in Bratislava if you prefer to rent your own property. Master's degrees often look like a golden chance for studying abroad. You can also consider a completely new study destination by building on your bachelors or switching to one more area of interest.
