More and more students want to study abroad in Poland each year. Such students are drawn to its high-quality colleges, low tuition fees, and similarly low living costs. Read on to discover why studying abroad in Poland should be considered.

Poland acts as the strategic and cultural crossroads of Eastern and Western Europe, located at the middle of the Northern European plain. Since the establishment of the first Polish state more than 1,000 years ago, Poland has been a country of survivors. Today, Poland is the largest of the former Eastern European states and the newest member of the European Union with the largest population.

In Poland, there are more than 400 courses offered in English, many at the undergraduate level. Over the past ten years, the number of higher education institutions in Poland has quadrupled, while the number of students has risen fivefold. In a rapidly evolving academic climate, foreign students who choose to study in Poland will have the opportunity to obtain a quality education.

In particular, Poland's medical schools are attracting a growing number of foreign students. Many foreign students who have not been able to join their home country's medical program chose to study medicine in Poland instead. While these courses are taught in English, by the end of the program, when students begin consultations with patients, Polish speaking skills are likely to become important. All of Poland's leading universities deliver high-quality programs, including medicine, engineering, humanities, business and finance, taught in English.

As with many other EU countries, Poland provides EU students with affordable and often free tuition. Much of the prices in Poland, of course, are much lower than in the UK, with the notable exception of medical courses with tuition of around £ 10,000 a year.

Poland's low cost of living makes the country one of the best study destinations for budget-driven international students. Moreover, the cost of living in Poland is much lower than in Western or Northern Europe, meaning that the average cost of higher education in Poland is substantially lower than elsewhere in Europe.

Qualified to work in Poland without a work permit are foreign students who are residents of EU/EEA countries. It could be hard, however, to find work in Poland without Polish language skills. Even if you find work, salaries are low and the equivalent of around £ 2 per hour is usually accounted for by student employers. Many foreign students chose to return to their home countries during summer breaks to work for this purpose.
