Finland: Number of Residence Permits Granted to International Students Hits Record-High

7,060 students obtained their residence permits in Finland from January to October, marking the highest number of such permits issued by Finnish authorities to this day. According to a press release by the Finnish Immigration Service, the increase in the number of study permits issued in 2022 is 54 per cent higher than in the previous year when 4,595 applicants were recorded, SchengenVisaInfo.com reports. “   The number of new international students has increased significantly, even when comparing to the pre-COVID years. The number of residence permits granted this year already surpassed the record-breaking year of 2016 when 6,348 first-time residence permits were granted to students,” Elina Immonen, the Deputy Director-General at Finnish Immigration Service, said.
